Overview
DM420, a two-phase stepper motor driver, is a cost-effective microstepping driver designed based on the Pl current control algorithm. It delivers excellent performance, featuring high-speed and high-torque output, low noise, low vibration, and low heat generation. The DM420 driver allows users to select operating current and microstepping settings via DIP switches, offering 16 microstepping options and 16 current levels. It includes protections against overvoltage, undervoltage, phase current overload, and total current overload. Both input and output control signals are optically isolated.Characteristic
• Pl control algorithm, featuring low noise, low vibration, and low heat generation.
• Signal Input: Single-ended, Pulse + Direction, and Dual Pulse; built-in microstepping.
• Power Supply: Supports up to DC 36V
• Current Setting: Conveniently adjustable with 16 selectable levels; peak output current up to 2.2A; current reduces by half after 1 second of motor inactivity.
• Factory default is up to 128 microsteps, adjustable up to 25,600 steps
• Optically isolated differential signal input, input pulse frequency up to 300KHz.Adapts to 20, 28, 35, 39, and 42-sized 4, 6, and 8-wire two-phase stepper motors.
• Over-voltage, under-voltage alarm, phase current over-current protection, motor phase open circuit detection and other functions.
• Pulse, direction and enable terminals have constant current input function, can be directly connected to the input signal.
• It can be directly connected to the input signal without the need of external series current limiting protection.
• High reliability: Multi-layer board and surface mounting sealing are adopted to leave enough margin for power devices.Performance indicators

Control signal wiring instructions
Function Symbolic Mean Note Pulse Signal PUL+ Start/stop signal positive Default pulse is valid on the falling edge; pulse width should be greater than 1.2μs for reliable esponse to pulse signals Input voltage range: 3.3~28V. PUL- Start/stop signal negative Direction Signal DIR+ Direction signal positive The motor's rotation direction depends on the DIR signal. When the DIR signal is floating or at a low level, the motor rotates clockwise; when the DIR signal is high, the motor rotates counterclockwise. To ensure reliable motor direction switching, the direction signal should be established at least 5μs before the pulse signal. The motor's initial running direction is related to the motor winding connections; swapping any winding pair (such as A+and A-) can change the motor's initial running direction.Input voltage range:3.3V~28V. DIR- Direction signal negative Enable Signal EN+ Enable signal positive Enable control signal: This input signal is used to enable or disable the driver output. When ENA is at a low level (or the internal optocoupler is conducting), the driver cuts off the current to all motor phases, putting the motor in a free state and ignoring step pulses. If this function is not needed, simply leave the enable signal terminal floating.Input voltage range: 3.3~28V. An 8-bit DIP switch is used to set the subdivision, operating current, pulse mode selection, and self-running mode.
